Orestes Gaulhiac
Born in Santiago de Cuba on May 18, 1960, Orestes Gaulhiac is an internationally acclaimed painter and ceramist. Recognized for his diversity in style and technique, many of Gaulhiac’s works are illustrative of life in the countryside in which he was raised.
Folklore comes alive in recognizable, yet redefined renderings of rural scenes populated with animals, plants, fruit, dolls and circus acts. His intuitive and playful universe celebrates the grandeur of animals and nature altogether.
Gaulhiac's particular use of layering, scratching and pushing paint creates a physical surface on which dreams and myth become reality.
